Our Story

Hodgson Vale Speech Pathology was established by Melissa Thompson in 2016, catering to a diverse range of caseloads including disability, literacy, language, speech, fluency & swallowing difficulties.   Our dedicated clinicians aim to deliver professional, individualised services tailored to each of our client’s unique needs.

We are passionate about providing high-quality services to clients of all ages.  We proudly provide local services to local people and strive to be a part of the community, creating connections with local GPs, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes and more. We believe that strong relationships help to build stronger outcomes for our clients.

Melissa Thompson

Certified Practising Speech Pathologist  l  Director

Melissa graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology in 2010. She has enjoyed a diverse career working in multiple settings across government, not-for-profit and private services with both adult and paediatric clients.  Melissa is committed to providing family-centred care to all clients in a warm, friendly environment and has experience with a range of caseloads including literacy, language, speech, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. Melissa works across both the Warwick and Toowoomba offices.

Brittany MacColl

Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

Brittany graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Eastern IL University and has practiced as a speech pathologist across the United States of America and Australia.

Brittany is passionate about helping children and young adults with their speech, language, literacy and social skills to become confident communicators.  She implements an evidence-based intervention approach and thrives on having the capacity to work closely with her clients, families, carers and other health and educational professionals.

Sarah Wiedman

Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) from the University of Queensland.  She has a dynamic approach to intervention, tailoring therapy to the needs of each client and always seeks to create a comfortable and fun learning environment for families.  Sarah enjoys working with a diverse caseload and has experience with acute adult swallowing, pediatric speech and language, stuttering, and disability.

Bliss Bierhoff

Administration Officer

Bliss is our professional, friendly administration officer.  She is passionate about making all clients feel welcome and at ease throughout their therapy journey.  She is available to answer questions, plan for and book appointments, help resolve concerns and make all visits a positive experience
